In a joint press conference, Aston Carter, the Defense secretary of the United States said that not only Indian Civilians but the military as well are the target of the terrorists. He was with the Indian Defense Minister, Manohar Parrikar, who is in the US.
India told the US its major defense partner, and Carter told that this designation gives the permit to the US to cooperate in not only strategic domain but technological domain as well. He also added that the US would assist the India as it does to its very old and close allies.
In conference, Mr. Carter told that Defense Partnership Agreement is a very big change took place in past 50 years. He told it an advanced step taken in few months, according to the reporters of Pentagon.
Manohar Parrikar in the Washington said that both nations’ important and shared objective is to counter the terrorism. He also praised the America for assisting India in eliminating the extremism from the neighborhood of the country. He also said that all those forces wanting us to weaken ways of life and progress of the country would get the robust and comprehensive response.
He also added that the shared values and interest of the both countries had driven the partnership of both nations. Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and US Congress have laid emphasis on to underline the partnership in June.
He also said that India is firm to cooperate to counter the terrorism. He also told Indian people to be a part of open and diverse societies that are always for peace. He added that the US has assured that no compromise would be made at the time when India would face terrorism.
Indian Defense Minister also said that forces across the border are creating problems in the Valley. He told that the government is making efforts proactively to deal with situations effectively. He further added that curfew from the valley had been removed.
According to the Pentagon reporters, Indian Defense Minister said, “As far as Kashmir is concerned, the Indian government has been very proactive in handling the violence, which comes from the across the border.”
