Health is the most vital factor we should all be thinking about in today’s stressful, hard-working lifestyle. Researchers suggest that the key to a healthy lifestyle, in other words, the lifestyle medicine is keeping good health for all your life… It isn’t as complicated as we think!
Simple alterations in our dietary plan; work-out routine and working patterns can do wonders for our health, especially mind, body and skin. Previously, we discussed about why we should live a healthy lifestyle; thereby, to extent the preceding topic a step further, in this blog, I would like to share my thoughts of how we can live a healthy lifestyle by making simple changes. Here I am combining advices of my nutritionist, physician and gym trainer to give my ideas in a clear, precise manner.
Think Positive and Live Contented
Positive attitude and assertiveness towards life is the key to a healthier immune system; it keeps us away from a number of cardiovascular diseases; hypertension and diabetes; osteoporosis and cancer; depression and mood swings; and other psychological disorders. If we are happy with ourselves, everything around us shall look beautiful; it is important that we enjoy every single moment of what life has to offer us. Mental satisfaction brings along happiness and positivity towards life, which in return opens doors to various productive events in life; overall, giving you a healthy lifestyle.
Set Up a Healthy Diet Plan
Eat green vegetables – broccoli; cabbage; carrots; tomatoes; grapes; spinach and other leafy veggies. Eat at least 5 times a day, just like a kid; it will help us manage weight; unnecessary fat deposits; food-cravings; metabolism; and energy levels; it will also help us to maintain our focus and keep us calm at mind. Drink plenty of water; it is recommended to drink at least four litres of water every day.
We should keep away from the junk and turn towards nutrient dense foods; recommended among them are the whole grains instead of refined grains. Don’t crave, rather have a well-balanced diet. You may add nutritional supplements or super foods such as protein bars and carbohydrate powders to your diet plan; but my way is the “natural way of living healthy”.
Work Hard and Exercise Regularly
Healthy Body, Health Mind – if we are lethargic, we are surely the cave of illness! The world around us seems fit, if we are fit. Along with a well-balanced diet, we also require a well-planned exercise schedule in our routine. We should work-out daily for a minimum 20 minutes. Enrol in a sport or jump on the trampoline, the choice is completely yours! Our ultimate goal should be burning calories and staying active.
People tend to hit the gym, but home yoga can also do wonders; all it requires is concentration, assertiveness and patience. A fit body not only gives us an appealing posture, but it also boosts our self-esteem; it puts a huge impact on our morale and can make us feel beautiful and happier about ourselves.
Take a Good Night’s Sleep
A minimum 7 to 8 hours of sleep is very necessary for our mind, body and soul. It is essential to fix up your sleeping pattern; do not work late hours; keep away from stressful thoughts and worries; darken the room adequately and keep the clock away, while turning towards the sleep mode. Our brain must relax to regain energy that evaporates in the day’s hectic activities; getting a good night sleep will help us avoid fatigue and strained-out; it will contribute to a healthy lifestyle to a great extent.
Set Up a ME-Time
Fix an appointment with yourself – this is the most important! We all should have some time off that we can utilize to see ourselves in the mirror and appreciate; volunteer for work that brings satisfaction; take a short walk alone in a park or on the road; read a favourite book; engage in a hobby and keep up with it; write a personal diary and then, read it again to blush.
I believe everyone should have a pet; it makes you feel close to homes and loved ones in this so-called too busy schedule these days; believe me, pets take away all your tensions and stress in just a few minutes. This is the best way of achieving a healthy lifestyle.
Make Good Friends and Take a Break
Although work is essential, but we must all take a break from all the big things including stress, fatigue, tension and exhilaration; I always take some time off for myself every week – movies, gathering with friends, going to a concert or an event, and relaxing at home. We must all aim for pleasure, and not pain; so, sit back and relax so that we are ready for the coming days!
Every little friend is so vital for our life, especially good company. For instance, there’s nothing better than talking to your best friend when you feel low; the first person that would come to my mind to talk anything and everything about is my best friend. Concentrating on small things, making them fit perfectly into our lifestyle, is the key to growing a healthy living.
Set up your brain into the blender mode; combine all the above tips well; add a pinch of motivation along with little efforts; blend well to a milkshake and gulp it down your throat. The effects of this milkshake will be a healthy lifestyle!
