Rio Olympic 2016: Indian Gymnast Dipa Karmakar To Play In Women Final Of Vault Event On Sunday, August 14th

On Sunday, August 14th, Dipa Karmakar, who has already made history, will play in the women final of vault event. She is the only Indian gymnast who has travelled a long journey to reach the final.

She said that it would not be easy to contend against the gymnasts who have already won medals. But, she is prepared well to make her best. She also added that she is not nervous; she would do her best so that she could gain a medal for her nation.

Her coach Bishweshwar Nandi seemed very confident about the performance of her pupil. He said that Dipa Karmakar would perform much better. Everything is uncertain about the winners. Whose luck would favor would be successful to get the medal, he added. He also said that the Physio of Dipa has come and preparation is going well.

Dipa Karmakar requested to the Sports Authority of India to let Sajad Ahmad, her Physio, go with her to the Olympics but it was rejected at the time. After making a place in the final, her Physio was sent. Some reports say that Sports Authority agreed to send the Physio with her, but the Physio went after knowing her injury.

On last Sunday, Dipa Karmakar crossed the qualifying round of Olympic Vault Event. This is her first Olympic game, and she succeeded to gain the 8th place in the qualifying round through scoring 14,850 points after two attempts, and become the first Indian Gymnast reaching the individual final of artistic gymnastic.

Dipa is also India’s first woman gymnast who has become eligible for the Olympics as well. When Dipa Karmakar is going to participate in the final, her family members are both excited and tensed. It was also told that people across the country are making phone calls for Dipa’s achievement.

Dipa’s story of becoming the gymnast is a great inspiration for people who do not have enough support and means to do some big because she had to go through some hurdles to reach this position. Dipa was advised by her coach not to take training for becoming gymnast because of her flat feet. But, she remained firm.
