Mother Teresa To Be Given A Title of A Saint

Late Mother Teresa was one such a Roman Catholic Nun who is treated as a saint by her followers. However, there are several such people who are her critics. She is going to be given a title of a saint on Friday.

She is known for serving the dying and poorest people. That’s why; she has been called as a representative symbol of the Christianity of the 20th century.

She was born in 1910, and her parents were Kosovar Albanian. She came in an Indian city named Kolkata, which is formerly recognized as Calcutta. She came here with Lorete of Ireland as a missionary teacher. She started working with the unfortunate peoples here and passed around 40 years like this and died at the age of 87 in 1997.

She laid the foundation of the Missionaries of Charity in 1950. Now, around 5,000 members – both males and females – across the world are a part of this Missionaries of Charity that has spread now in 133 countries in the world. She is also known for establishing hospices, schools, and homes for neglected children, leper colonies, and soup kitchens. She also became a Noble laureate for her work.

She became a very popular across the world and also a citizen of India. People call her only ‘sister.’ She also got the state funeral. The beginning step of her sainthood, which is called ‘beatification,’ was done quickly because of her friend, who was the late Pope, named John Paul II, was the pontiff when she died.

Her name is attached to not only good deeds but some controversies as well. These controversies were related to the religious conversions, money trial, and poor facilities and cared for poor people.

Mother Teresa was a lady who has dogmatic views about the divorce, contraception, and also abortions. Critics also lay a charge on her for converting people to Christianity. No transparency was noticed in bookkeeping as well. She got millions of dollars from different sources as a donation but least information was made available about the uses of this money. It had also been noticed by the critics that level of medical care and hygiene was very low.
