The Rock is back; yes Dwayne Johnson the famous wrestler is back with a bang in the latest action comedy film Central Intelligence by Warner Bros. Rawson Marshall Thurber directs the film and written by David Stassen, Ike Barinholtz and Thurber himself.

Story Line

The story of Central Intelligence revolves around two old school friends Bob / Robbie(Dwayne Johnson) and Calvin Joyner (Kevin Hart), how they incidentally meet at a local pub and ends up having an argue as Calvin memorizes his old high school memories.

Bob is suspected of his suspicious activities of having satellite codes as accounting records and there comes in the secret mission of CIA. The entire movie is based on how they save the world from selling the satellite information that could be disastrous, Calvin joining the CIA and solving the secret mission along with memories of childhood bullies and traumas.

The premier of Central Intelligence was conducted in Regency Village Theater in Los Angeles on 10th June 2016 and was released on 17th June 2016 worldwide. The distribution of the movie in the United States is handled by Warner Bros. while Universal Pictures will handle the global distribution. The film grossed around $85.8 million all over the world.

Critics Response

Although the film got a mixed response from the critics but the chemistry between the duo Dwayne and Kevin was loved by all and took the movie to a next level.  Some said that they could not fill up the missing gaps in the film plot and story line but tried to tickle your funny bone at some point.

The Rotten Tomatoes rated the movie 67% with the average of 5.7 on 10 and the critic response was “Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson make for well-matched comic foils, helping Central Intelligence overcome a script that coasts on their considerable chemistry.”

The Rolling Stone rated the film two on four stars while the Metacritic gave 52 out of 100. Keith Phipps of Uproxx gave the film a positive review, saying: “It all adds up to the sort of breezy, undemanding comedy that fits nicely into the summer months, and plays beautifully in endless cable repeats.”

Final Verdict

The Central Intelligence, a film about high school bullying and childhood traumas that affect till adulthood and the chemistry between the stars worked well in the movie. So it could be said a perfect fit for summer vacations to keep your mind behind and have some fun with action comedy film.
