Airtel, Idea, and Vodafone, the three main mobile operators in the India, have agreed to co-operate with the Reliance Jio to enhance the capacity of interconnections to Jio network of Reliance, and Reliance Jio has welcomed these steps of the Indian operators.

Two days back on 14 September, Reliance Jio criticised the aforementioned incumbent operators for not co-operating with their users to port their number to new operators. Reliance Joi complained about the illegal actions of the mobile operators to the Chairman of TRAI, Mr R.S. Sharma through writing a letter to him. It said that not letting users port their number to new operators is pervasive and illegal.

In its letter, Reliance Jio also wrote that it is completely against the conditions of the license. He wrote to TRAI to look into the matter and directs all the mobile operators to comply with terms and conditions of the licenses at all cost otherwise their license should be cancelled.

Reliance Jio also informed TRAI that these operators were also not releasing bandwidth for interconnectivity due to which customers of the Jio had to go through unpleasant situations as around 520 million calls were dropped.

The company also informed that 220 million calls were dropped only on the network of Airtel. After this complaint, Airtel made some arrangements so that Jio could offer better services to its clients. Airtel provided a point of interconnects which is three times higher than the current level for Reliance Jio. The Idea has already provided POIs to the Reliance.

After the Idia and the Airtel, Vodafone India has also got agree to offer additional POIs so that Jio can get enhanced interconnectivity. This could have become possible due to Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.

However, Vodafone has agreed to co-operate with the Reliance Jio, yet Reliance Jio does not seem satisfied. The company said that the quantum of the POIs that Vodafone would release is less than the estimated requirement. The company does also not seem to be satisfied with the number of the ports that have been decided to be released. The Company said that it is also lower than the needs.
